Hong Kong, 16 April 2018 - NEC Hong Kong participated in the 15^th edition of HKTDC International ICT Expo 2018 from 13 to 16 April 2018, at Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, Wanchai, Hong Kong.

 

The HKTDC International ICT Expo 2018 is a one-stop platform that showcases the advanced and groundbreaking ICT solutions from across the world. Themed “Smart City: The Way of the Future”, the event showcased NEC’s latest advancements in and deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in sectors such as Smart City, Smart Living, Smart Transport and Video Analytics Solutions to spotlight the next-generation development in Smart Cities.

 

The VIP Guests visited the NEC Booth to view the Live Demonstration of NEC Social Robot, Face Recognition and Video Analytics Solutions to realize the latest development of NEC Smart Solutions with AI technologies such as Nicholas W. Yang, GBS, JP, Secretary for Innovation and Technology of HKSAR, Ir Allen Yeung, JP, Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) of HKSAR, Hon Charles Peter MOK, JP, Legislative Councilor (Information Technology), Hon CHAN Kin Por, GBS, JP, Legislative Councilor (Insurance), and the Buyer Tours invited by HKTDC.

 

The NEC Booth (Booth# 3G-B20) showcased the following solutions:

1. NEC Smart City Solutions: Realize Smart Cities by offering five leading NEC technologies: sensing, authentication, monitoring, control, and cloud computing. NEC Smart City Solutions deploying Smart and Safe Technologies in meter data management, energy storage, electric vehicle charging as well as energy management systems to push the limits of smart grids, and enable high-quality urban living over many generations while contributing to a comfortable, eco-friendly environment.
2. NEC Smart Living Solutions: NEC Social Robot “HUMANE” is designed to stimulate, engage, enable and empower older people with dementia and/or requiring companionship, as well as support their carers in Aged Care Facilities and Home-based care with lifestyle centred services.
3. NEC Face Recognition Solutions: NEC’s world No.1 face recognition technology can be implemented as a functionally independent application, or seamlessly integrated into new or existing biometric security solutions by system integrators and solution providers.
4. NEC Video Analytics Solutions: The software ‘Behavior Analyzer’ automatically detects suspicious behavior such as intrusion, loitering, and object abandonment based on user-defined time and location parameters. It can distinguish between humans, shadows and moving objects. It can be used to Detect intrusion to prohibited area, Detect suspicious Object, Detect Fallen Person, Detect Crowded Persons, Count number of people, Masking, and Easy setting interface
5. NEC Smart Transport Solutions: It has been implementing cutting-edge solutions to manage key infrastructure – such as railways, bus networks and highways. The technologies make rides smoother and more efficient for passengers and drivers via in station and on-board communication systems, bus telematics systems and transportation control systems.

 

Gary Tai, Business Director, Public Sector Unit, NEC Hong Kong Limited, spoke on the “Panel on Next-Generation Smart City Solutions” on 16 APR 2018 at Seminar Room, Halls 3FG, Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. Gary introduced the real cases in Japan, Barcelona, Singapore and Hong Kong that applied the NEC Smart City Solutions by Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, and is "on a mission as a social value creation company contributing to the future of societies," he said. "In the face of serious social issues worldwide, we want to make life easier and more efficient for everyone."
