Hong Kong – October 22, 2013 – NEC Hong Kong Limited was awarded by PC Market, a leading IT magazine in Hong Kong, as the winner of “PCM Biz.IT Excellence 2013 in IT Solution Excellence – IT Security”. This is the 5th year of “PCM Biz.IT Excellence” since 2009 which is organized by PC Market, aiming at recognizing local outstanding IT solution vendors, enterprises and organizations users that leverage information and communication technologies to make a difference. The winners were strictly evaluated under several areas including innovation & creativity, product quality, functionality, after-sale service, contributions to the industry and environmental & social responsibility.

NEC's Face Recognition technology was ranked number one in the Biometric Grand Challenge's (MBGC) "Still Face Challenge”, carried out by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), commissioned by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, 2009. In addition to NEC's number one position in the Multiple Biometric Grand Challenge's (MBGC) "Still-Face" Challenge Problem in December, 2009, NEC, again, achieved the highest score in the new benchmark test MBE 2010.
